Javascript has been disabled for templating and content pages on free accounts. I've had to do this because spammers are registering free accounts then using javascript to redirect to their spam pages. Patron accounts will still be allowed javascript in their templates and content pages. Both patron and free accounts will *not* be allowed to put Javascript in their entries.

haha. I thought my javascript skills were jinxed or something. XD

Anyway. It's okay. We can still live here without java. Besides, those spammers are seriously annoying me. =)

What?! Just because some people abused their accounts with spam pages doesn't mean that other people like me would. This will be such a disability. A lot of people will face difficulties. Why take this drastic step?

There is no way I can monitor all accounts by myself to see who is using Javascript in ok ways and who isn't; therefore I have to disable it for all free users. If you can think of a better solution, I'm all ears.

Hmm.. suggestion here. :) You know youtube's report as spam idea? Why don't we have that.. hmm.. like, at least 3 different reports or something would automatically cancel the account. LOL, i know it's more work for you. XD the js cancellation is fine. :)

Problem is that most of the spammers are using javascripts to do an automatic redirect; it'd take a lot of work to report the issue.

hi, so does this mean that we can no longer embed YouTube videos in our blogs? i tried putting my YouTube video last night by putting the script on my journal's html setting, but no it doesn't show. is there any alternative way of putting videos in our blogs? :)

as for disabling javascript for templating and content pages, does this mean that we can no longer edit and change our current layout? :)

please enlighten me on this one since i am not well-versed in techie stuff. thank you. :)

YouTube does not use Javascript to embed images; use the HTML they provide on each video and you will be fine.

Youtube seems to still work. At least my old entries with videos still work.
