Tabulas 0.999999 is now in effect. This basically features a completely rehashed UI for the admin panel. The templates have also been standardized to use the same CSS tables ...

Unfortunately the timing of this release is horrible. I leave tomorrow until mid-July and will be unable to fix any bugs nor reply to any comments and such. As this site is still considered beta (by me), I will not implement any restrictions yet. Please continue to report any problems you have with the site.

Some changes that occured during upgrade to Tabulas 0.99999:
1.) Stickied entries were lost
2.) Entries with attached images were lost (for the moment). This should be fixed once I get back.
3.) All color schemes were lost (this was announced and intentional). Please feel free to recreate your color schemes, though =).
4.) All anonymouse usernames were reset to allow for the new comment changes.

Some new features:
1.) Autolinks
Associate keywords in your entries with links. Just try it out to understand how it works =) Autolinks only work when you post an entry; edited entries are not subjected to autolinks.

2.) Automated Linking
If you put in a URL directly into your entry, Tabulas will detect this and automatically create a link for you.

3.) Inline Image Inputting
There is now a tag that will input an image from your gallery into your entry instead of having to type out the full HTML. Simply grab the ID of the image (which is the last 4 set of numbers in the URL for any image ... for instance the URL http://www.tabulas.com/~roy/gallery/album209/1813.html has an image with ID of 1813), then put this into your journal entry: (img:ID Number) ... use brackets instead of parenthesis. It will input your image.

4.) Completely revamped gallery
The gallery UI was lacking. There is now mass edit options which will hopefully make managing your galleries less cumbersome. Please try out the new system =) There is also additional border options - nested, B&W, etc. Go to your 'Add Images' page to see more options.

5.) Crossposting
Crossposting has now been moved to a more permanent location ("Entry Options"). Since most people who crosspost do so on a consistent basis, we've decided to do this and move it all on one page. If you input a LJ username, it will also not require you to input your username/password. A time error on the old LJ crossposting was fixed (the time would always set to 7pm). Pinging Weblogs.com has also been added if you want to add your journal.

6.) Backing Up Journal
You now have an option to back up your journal; but you may do so only once every two weeks. All journals are generated in both HTML and RSS feeds for easy implementation and saves.

7.) Upgraded UI across the board
Most, if not all the pages were upgraded to newer designs in the admin panel. This also involved a careful rewrite of a lot of code ... bah!

8.) Entry Formatting
You may not custom-edit your entry outputs; everything in your journal is now mostly customizable.

9.) 'Blogring-Only Postings'
Essentially the same thing as 'private.' Used to differentiate personal posts and private posts.

10.) Ranking Gallery Pictures
Ok this was kind of tricky. You can now order your pictures in your gallery, but you must put in manual numbers. The script will order based on the numbers you input. As long as one image has a greater number, it will appear after another image. You will see 'Rebuild Indices' links in your gallery. If you find that your numbering system has gone completely wacko, you can use the 'Rebuild' function to reorder. It will basically order your whole gallery and set nice integer numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) so it's easier to manage.
Read more for things to do.

- Fix up shared journal pages. Remove all references to 'blogring' and change to 'shared journals.'
- Images attached via entry attachment are acting up. Why?
- Easier templating options
- Nothing on the user's templates has changed. There will be options to select templates for comment output as well as gallery. Each template will be as robust as the admin UI.
- Moderators have options in blogrings to edit posts
- Hit logging has been _completely_ disabled. Need to work on a nice new function
- help.tabulas.com - tutorials for how to use tabulas, aimed at completely internet beginners
- users.tabulas.com - a "yellow pages" for tabulas members
- automated linking - editing entry yields multiple nested links.
- song of the moment / book of the moment - sometimes the case of the words gets off. fix that.
- explicit entry status; right now there's no way to detect whether an entry is sticky ...
- more templates!
- limited HTML (autolinks also) allowed in comments
- extended comment replies
- advqnced - shared journals seems screwy in general
- gallery thumbnails not sizing
- gallery privacy levels
- treat anonymous comments like real comments

For some odd reason when I add an image it doesn't make a thumbnail, or the thumbnail is the size of the actual picture so it's all jacked. Did I do something weird?

One bug found:
When I click on someone's username on my "Friends" page, it goes to http://www.tabulas.com/~(myuserid)/home.php?user=(friendsuserid) instead of http://www.tabulas.com/home.php?user=zhixiang. Plz fix it..thanks! :)

roy, here's another bug.... i noticed in the "website url" entry for non-tabulas visitors leaving comments, there's a limited amount of characters set for the entry. SO, most of the time, the URL they leave is never complete. :(

For the XML backup file that is created... the dates are all the same.

A nice to have for the next release... if you can make an option to select which entries you'd like to back up. ie: either all, or from a date range... or just monthly.

fixed the date thing

Another bug: Can't edit an existing template. It works on the site, but can't see the code.

Bug: Can't create a stylesheet (color scheme) at all + hit logging doesn't work (referring to the view last 100 hits for free users). Yup thanks
Comment posted on June 30th, 2003 at 12:54 PM
be more specific... i hqve created and implemented them just fine
Comment posted on June 30th, 2003 at 09:20 PM
ok what i meant was: i create a template code, but when i try to edit it later, i cannot view the code. Either that or the word "Array" appears in the text area. As for the Stylesheets (Color scheme), when I click on "create", nothing happens. Lastly, when i try to implement a custom entry format, my entries do not appear on my blog, only the words "Later ? entries". Seems like only Tabulas entry formats works at present. Yup thanks
Comment posted on July 3rd, 2003 at 02:26 PM
that is really odd. your going from http://www.tabulas.com/private/css.php to stylize?
Comment posted on July 6th, 2003 at 08:30 PM

Another one. I cant click on "Advanced" on http://www.tabulas.com/private/css.php when I want to edit a style colour scheme. Not stated anywhere on the "Things to do" list too.

One more bug. The pre-set colours for the tagboard are no longer there. As in when you go to http://www.tabulas.com/private/tagboard.php , you can't select any other new colour there. The Hex codes work fine though.

One more thing...how come HTML isnt allowed when making comments? Is it possible/practical for this to be implemented?
Comment posted on June 28th, 2003 at 09:58 AM
i'm not a real big fan of that. maybe i'll allow limited tags in the next upgrade.

Spotted one more error.

On the main tabulas page (http://www.tabulas.com/) there is a list of the "Last 5 Confirmed Members to Join". However 10 users are listed there...so what's the right one? :)
