Gone

I'll be gone until Sunday night and won't be able to fix up bugs until next week. So please be patient =) Any accounts bought until Sunday will be filled Sunday night in the order they are received

To those who want to buy beta accounts, we still got a few left, so buy it now!

To questions regarding what happens when your account expires:
We'll ask you to renew your account. We'll probably give you a two-week period to renew your account.

If you don't renew your account, we will keep your account open with the limits set to whatever images you have. Your account status goes back to free account, but your quotas for images and templates remain at however many you have.

Remember that you can also send payment via mail ... see the payment page for more information.

Edit: We've finished the import function from LiveJournal. The XML files generated by LiveJournal can now be directly imported into your Tabulas.

If you've been crossposting and worry about double posts, do not worry! The feature will automatically detect which are double entries and will allow you to quickly remove them so your journals aren't cluttered

Edit2: To those of you with DeadJournals, could you e-mail me a copy of your backups so I can try to make a quick convert tool for these services? I need the XML versions

I'm also aware the Blurty crossposting won't work yet. We're working on it.

Sometime next week I will be upgrading some of the entry display modes. As suggested by a Tabulas user, we will be using the &!--mood--> and the related tags to simply display the data and not the Currently Feeling/Listening/Reading. For those of you with custom templates, please be aware that I will be changing this. Those of you with preset Tabulas entries will not be affected - I will upgrade all the templates myself.

What browser are you using? I seem to not have this problem of entry dissappearing when you try to use a smilie...

Interesting. Can you try upgrading to IE 6 to see if this is a problem with IE 5?

yeah me too... i usually solve this by clicking on the end of the line before i click on the smilies...

Oh, in shared journals none of those settings matter. Sticky and privacy settings only apply within your own journal.

also, how do you enable hit logging? it says "you must enable "hit logging" from your profiles page" but there is nothing about hit logging there.

darn :( hmm bleh well you should have options to get a paid account for like just 6 months or 3 months or something because 28 dollars is a lot considering i don't have much money. and suppose i decide to not use tabulas anymore- i'm sure i won't but just suppose.

Well look at it this way:

If I give out the high CPU intensive features to everybody, then I not only don't get paid for my efforts in building this site, but I have to spend my own money to buy more server power because a bunch of people can't afford $28/year ... =)

I try to give as many features for free, but hit logging is such a CPU intensive feature that this site would quickly shut down if I let everyone have that feature.

If you don't like it, you're free to leave. There are tons of other services out there that offer much less in terms of features than this site.

uh. i never said i didn't like it here. i just said i wished there was an option to only get a paid account for 6 months or whatever instead of a year. i don't know how that translates into "i don't like this site and it sucks".

The way that was phrased, you sound like you're threatening me with leaving Tabulas if I don't implement some new feature :) I don't like that type of language, that's all :)

yeah.. i don't see how. its not MY fault you didn't understnad what i was saying- which was that, y'know, i don't want to pay $28 bucks for a whole year and then decide its not worth it or i stop using tabulas. i have NO idea where you get that i'm "threatening" you.

I hope you do realize the burden of communication falls on you to be as clear as possible. It is not my responsibility to take a vague message and then interpret it exactly as you meant it.

Your original message taken in the context now that you've explained it makes more sense. However, in the context you originally used it, it makes you sound like: "Well, you guys should taken into account my suggestion because I may leave Tabulas if it's not implemented. I mean, I probably won't leave, but just suppose I will."

ermm can you like pay by sending CASH? because i haven't got checks or a credit card and my parents would make a fuss if i asked if they could order it for me.

also, can there be a way to like upload icons. but like.. not have one that it automatically uses? because i'd like to use them for commenting on stuff, but not have one show on the page.

There's a drop down menu next to the buttons above the box where you type in your entries. Click on that, and choose "no icon" :)

Unfortunately the shared journals feature SUCKS. It's something I've been meaning to revamp from scratch but haven't had the time. For now you have to use the fugly template that's up there ... :/

Hrm. You got two uploaded I see... you sure it's not just badly formatted image? Does it get to the success page at all and just oens't upload? or what happens?

Do you think it's possible to provide a snippet of the XML file? IfLJ's XML already converts to unicode, I'm not really sure what the problem is... butif they don't, then I do ;)

one bug on entry format: i just realized that my favorites are not showing up when i use my own defined entry format. but when i switch back to a pre made one, it shows up. :(

I'm aware you're on vacation, but this is for whenever you're back or available to respond:
I was wondering if it's possible for you to set-up a feature (if there isn't one already [i think i may have seen it, but cannot find it anymore]) to stop your user from being displayed on Tabulas front page. I'd really like to stop being shown on the front page everytime I update. Maybe where there is a checkbox for 'Prevent search engine robots from crawling my Tabulas" on the style.php page, you can also add an option "Prevent your user from being displayed on Tabulas Front Page". It would be a really nice feature, so I'm just wondering if it'd be possible, heh.

At this point, the only way to do this is for your users, when they post to the shared journal also post to their own journal. Perhaps we'll add this feature soon though :)
