The mainpage (which was getting really slow due to the high memory usage of the site) is now being handled by a cache. The cache is updated every two minutes, so your "new" posts won't update instantaneously, but will update every two minutes.

The speed on the frontpage should now be blazing fast!

Can you email me? I want to discuss possibilities for teachers to use tabulas.
Thanks

one question,.

if i post an entry on my site, would it be automatically posted too on my shared journals?...

or if so, is it possible to not post my entry to my shared journals?
Comment posted on October 20th, 2003 at 12:13 PM
No, posting an entry does not automatically post it to your shared journals. You have to set that yourself manually.

To post to a shared journal, go to the advanced entry addition screen and then check the shared journals you want to also post to.

I am creating a BookBlog page on one of the Content pages. Is there a way that I can upload pictures of student work on that page? I don't want to include it in the Galllery--I want the pics to be part of the student's entry.
Comment posted on October 19th, 2003 at 09:02 PM
Create a private album, upload the pictures there, then grab the URL of the images (right click on the image and go to Properties). Use that URL for the image.
Comment posted on October 20th, 2003 at 10:26 AM
I tried it. I can see the picture in the gallery but the link to the pic on the Content page is not active. What step did I miss?
Thanks

To add an image into the content page, copy this into the content HTML:

Hey, I just came across an error whilst trying to create another album category:
"You have an error in your SQL syntax near '3', albumRank = '5', hidden = '0', userid = '4691', timestamp = NOW()' at line 1"

get back to me, thx
Comment posted on October 19th, 2003 at 07:56 PM
Er, category == album.
Comment posted on October 19th, 2003 at 07:56 PM
I created an album just fine. From what page are you trying to create a category?

Hey Tabulas!

This site is pretty cool, keep up the good work!
Comment posted on October 18th, 2003 at 12:46 PM
are there only 2 choices for commenting--login and anonymous? don't want anonymous but I don't want other educators to have to login if they don't want to register.
Comment posted on October 18th, 2003 at 02:29 PM
Not quite sure I follow your question- what other option would there be besides the two? Anonymous just means you don't have to have an account, but identification isn't 100% secure... logging in is the other half...
Comment posted on October 18th, 2003 at 08:39 PM
I post comments on other blogs all the time without signing in and it is not anonymous, there are boxes for name, email and URL. Why do people have to loggin to tabulas to post a comment?
Comment posted on October 18th, 2003 at 11:00 PM
Right. What you described is what we call "anonymous."

It's not really anonymous; they leave their e-mail/name/website with their comments ... and they don't need to sign up for Tabulas to do this.

On my Hit Logging - the time setting is off. The calendar is marking hits from today on tomorrows date. I checked Preferences but the time setting is okay. How do I fix it ?
Comment posted on October 18th, 2003 at 01:40 AM
Because of the manner in which those hits are generated (they are generated once), the times are normalized to GMT time, not to the timezone you set. This is to prevent "problems" when you go around changing your time zone...

There is a problem with my login! I re-sent my password, though I was pretty sure I knew it. I re typed it in and it won't let me log in. I am absolutely sure that I don't have any typos or spelling mistakes, capslock is not on, but it still won't let me login. Why is this?
Comment posted on October 17th, 2003 at 12:33 PM
Uh... you seemed to be logged in right now?
Comment posted on October 17th, 2003 at 08:27 PM
I know, I tried it like 8 more times and it finally went through.
Comment posted on October 18th, 2003 at 01:41 AM
Um, I'm not sure what the problem is... the log-in system isn't really a random system :/
Comment posted on October 17th, 2003 at 08:28 AM
one question, irrelevant but, does tabulas support script? the font. cause i tried it and it couldn't work.
Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 06:50 PM
Don't mean to be a bother, I created a second journal and used the same e-mail adress, but the second if for my poetry and stuff. I just want to make sure it's not against the rules...
Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 07:33 PM
As long as you don't get new accounts for the sole purpose of getting more gallery space, it's A-OK! :)
Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 04:36 PM
Okay great.
I appreciate it alot.

Should be fixed now. I've implemented HTML-blocking features on that site description. if you want to add that sitetracker, create a template based on your existing template/color scheme and throw it in somewhere else :D
Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 04:22 PM
the screen shot that I took..it was scrolled all the way down. Thats whats messed up about it. It won't show the rest of the page.
Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 04:25 PM
Oh ok. The problem is that you have HTML in your description, and it's screwing up the rest of the page. Do you want me to clear your description?
Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 04:12 PM
Okay Tabulas.....its there.

Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 12:19 AM
According to your site, you actually have set a date with that time here. Look, December 31st, 1969. You may want to fix this entry.
Comment posted on October 16th, 2003 at 05:24 AM
ha ha ha.... thanx, I wonder why it didn't show up the other day... *stupid me* weird... I don't remember I set the date like that... oh, well, computers.

Comment posted on October 14th, 2003 at 11:14 PM
This is off-topic, but... could you update the URL for the syndicated account you have at LiveJournal?? Have it point to this site. Please? :p
Comment posted on October 14th, 2003 at 11:52 PM
I don't have the RSS points on LJ to update the link. And there's no built-in RSS attributes that will redirect... :/

Do you have any points?
Comment posted on October 15th, 2003 at 08:24 AM
Yes, I have points, so I can create a feed if you like. But since you already have an account there, I think you can just email their support and ask to change the feed URL.
Comment posted on October 14th, 2003 at 06:08 PM
in 2 minutes the list of recently updated journals completely changes. so there will be some people that are never listed on the main page, not that i care, just an observation.

A small price to pay for performance.
Comment posted on October 14th, 2003 at 06:57 PM
oh no doubt about it. i would imagine that being real-time was pretty server intensive in its own right. just the list.
