There is now a new entry engine in place; this should make no difference in aesthetics; this new engine was written for performance's sake.

We're trying to rewrite a lot of the core code so that the site doesn't hit the database as much but relies more on memory... let's hope it works

Please let us know if you find any problems with it (anything regarding entry output or display on any pages containing entries).

Note that we've temporarily disabled the "Jump to Date" feature that used to be found on your archives page.

Thanks!

Why do you need to remove them? They aren't affecting your ability to post entries...

I see no other way to bring this up, and it's not relevant to this topic at all, but the user "dice" has been spamming her site in what seems to be everyone's journals. I don't particularly like it and I'm wondering if there's a way to make it stop.

You should take note of <a href="http://www.tabulas.com/~tabulas/44541.html">new features</a> that would help you resolve this problem.

Much appreciated! Is there any easy way to sniff out their IP using Tabulas?
Comment posted on October 31st, 2003 at 10:22 PM
HAHAHA! I knew you were gonna cry about it! Damn whore... I already explained to you why I did it but you just wanna keep the situation going! I haven't even been spamming lately and you wanna be a bitch about it ALL OVER AGAIN! Talk about annoying?¿? What is annoying is you telling the whole world about your little stupid worries. And by the way- I'M NOT TAKING YOU OFF OF MY FRIEND'S LIST SO DEAL WITH IT!

If you would have taken a moment to read the date on that post I made about you, you would have realized it was made the night of our little dispute. I haven't thought about you since. And now that I have the option to ban you from my journal, I will. Therefore, I won't bother you, and you, hopefully, won't bother me.

I'm only going to warn you once about this: Please do not use my journal as your personal platform to launch attacks on others. Resolve them outside this journal. .
Comment posted on October 24th, 2003 at 10:05 AM
I would try to resolve it in a manner that doesn't involve administrative action - ask nicely to her to stop posting her URL all around. I really am reluctant to act as the "police" around here ...

But some new features in the works should help with this problem :)

hm had the same problem too, he/she/it posted some url at the comments at one of my posts... come on comments are supposed to be related to the post right? hm i just deleted that post. but you're right.. and maybe there's supposed to be a rule or something for tabulas users.. much like a do's and don'ts.. and violators get... their account frozen or something.. anyway just an idea, coz really that thing's so damn annoying

i got one for ya roy. when you post a post with an image attached, no matter what album you select, it does not put the images to the album.
Comment posted on October 25th, 2003 at 01:34 AM
Um, what are you talking about? I just added it to the album fine...
Comment posted on October 25th, 2003 at 05:56 AM
at the time of posting it didnt function. it also didn't have the message "Your images will be attached to next post submitted to your Tabulas." so I guess in between now and then, you changed something? No idea, but it's working now.

hi roy! i'm not sure if this has been discussed before but have you considered a "password-protected entry" feature? kind of like a "friends-only" post except friends that are not part of tabulas can still read it with the password. or for posts that you want "some" friends to read but not all on your "friends" list.
Comment posted on October 25th, 2003 at 01:36 AM
The problem here is a matter of logistics:

1.) Do you do password once for all "password protected entry" or is there an individual password for each entry?

1b.) If the former, then you're just adding another security layer on top of "friends-only" whose only purpose would be for non-Tabulas members to view more "secure posts." (Side question: How do you prevent the password from being shared?)

1c.) if the latter, then how do you remember all the passwords?

In all reality, I would probably go with a more refined version of the "friends-only" feautre where you could set up "user groups" to manage privacy levels before hitting up password-protected entries...

I was thinking of something like this but for galleries. I know that you have something like that on tokkiproject, just wondering if you could implement something like this here? ^_^

the current date tag only shows up once, even if you have multiple entries in a day. is there any way we can have a date tag that shows up multiple times in a day too? thanks. ^^

XML problem:
-I've backed up my entries but any "&" chars in the &gt;title&lt; tags don't parse properly as well as stray &lt; and &gt; characters
-There probably isn't a very elegant fix to this other than doing a find & replace for the "&" char in the title and changing it to "and" or something... probably anything is better than the XML being unwellformed.
-then again... this could just be an XML parser implementation issue (I'm using the MSIE parser & MS Infopath parser)... I'm not sure what the W3C standard says about this.
Comment posted on October 23rd, 2003 at 04:10 AM
one more thing to note: the "&" char is fine in the body part.

and perhaps the chars can just be changed to be their formal code (i forget what its called... but how "&" is "&amp", etc. thats actually probably the best solution now that i think about it.
Comment posted on October 25th, 2003 at 01:38 AM
Ooh. I'll work on extending the backups features to be more ... better soon :D

styles >> select the drop down entitled "Entry Display Style" >> select "Minimalist Text".

The alternative is to create your own style, but minimalist works fine for me.

Well, this is a bug that's been going on for awhile. When I choose "Gaming" in my Categories, it shows up blank, but the category shows up when I post it.
Comment posted on October 22nd, 2003 at 11:34 PM
Gaming isn't blank to me... I see posts in it.
Comment posted on October 23rd, 2003 at 01:21 AM
Mm, I think you're misunderstanding. When I go to post an entry, there's that little drop down box like for the usericons in comments, except it's for categories. When I click it, all my categories show up, but when I choose Gaming. The box will then become blank. But when I post, it still posts fine (puts it in the Gaming category). The bug is in the display when adding the entry.

Can you provide a screenshot? I have no idea what you're saying...
Comment posted on October 23rd, 2003 at 02:48 AM
Ok, check my gallery now. The one with the blank category is what happens after I choose gaming. You'll also notice that "Media Files" only shows up as "Media F"
Comment posted on October 23rd, 2003 at 09:37 AM
I'm guessing it's some sort of browser bug. There's nothing in the HTML that should be doing that; it's a simple select dropdown.

Comment posted on October 23rd, 2003 at 08:36 AM
Roy, I also seem to be having a problem with categories. I just noticed that when I make a new post, I cannot assign it a category. I have three categories created.
Comment posted on October 25th, 2003 at 01:37 AM
The categories don't appear underneath the main entry addition text box? Or do you assign it and it just doesn't assign it properly?
Comment posted on October 26th, 2003 at 06:20 PM
I cannot seem to assign categories.
Comment posted on October 26th, 2003 at 09:07 PM
You need to enable categories; it's kinda hard to see (i'll fix that soon) but it's on the same page as where you create categories (there's a link that says "enable categories.")
