We've started to reference Shared Journals as "Communities."

We've brought back the display portion of Communities (you can now see your community page again) ... but note the new URL schema. You now find your communities at http://www.tabulas.com/community/community_name

We've also revamped the "view members" and "info" pages.

We're working on the administrative portions of the site right now, but we'll reveal some plans that we're doing.

There will be better control for moderators; you will be actively able to kick out members and remove entries from communities. However, we're limiting this power to free users.

Free users will only be able to be the moderator of one journal and will only be able to kick out members if the member is within the last 10% of the full membership. So if 10 people are in a community, a free user moderator will only be able to kick a person out if they were the last person to join.

Free user moderators will also only be able to remove entries if they are within the last 10% of all entries posted to the community. So if 100 entries have been posted to a community, the free user moderator will only be able to manage the last 10 entries.

Free user moderators will also not be able to create new templates for communities but use the preset templates.

Non-free users will be able to have full moderation access to communities, as well as the ability to create templates and such. They will also be able to moderate up to 250 communities.

Is there an ETA for the images to not get tampered by the server when being shown? I ask this since I just noticed another problem. Even for images it doesn't resize, it still does something to it, resulting in noise being added to the picture. For an example, check out http://www.tabulas.com/~dracil/gallery/95803.html and then compare it to the original at http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~yehfang/img2/C002.jpg

I'll let you in on a little secret ;)

Check out http://www.tabulas.com/gallery/fullsized/4265_Lc8D2.jpg

(change the attach folder to fullsized ...)

:o

(there's still a slight bit of distortion, and i'm not sure where that arises from since the fullsized folder are the images taken raw from upload ...)

Yay, this means I can finally stop depending on my OCF server for my website pics! Except for one thing, I can't upload PNG files. :(

i have always had problems with making colorsheets because when i go to set them up, everything freezes up and some stuff dissappears. is this just my computer or an error in the site?
Comment posted on January 6th, 2004 at 05:26 PM
I think it's with your computer ... it just might be an overload of information on that styles page. I haven't had any problems with stylesheets yet.

But I'm pretty sure it's just too much for your browser to handle; I am working on a new version of the colorselector that should help alleviate those problems in the future.

thats a bit beyond our scope .. it would require a script that would generate the HTML page, take a snapshot, then resize it. seems like more work than someone simply just going to their site ;)

You enabled a custom HTML template and didn't put in the tagboard command into your HTML.

the images in the albums...are they included in the "images posted?" bec. there is a limit in posting images... but the images in album/gallery are also counted as posts?
Comment posted on January 6th, 2004 at 01:29 PM
Images posted count as images posted, it doesn't matter where they are posted.

Wow, looks great roy!

I did noticed a link missing... if you go to http://www.tabulas.com/community/copycam/members.html, at the bottom, where it says 'To join this community, click here." there's no link to join. :)

And also, on the top header, it says "add as friend" but there is no user variable to add.

I'm not being picky. :) I just wanted to let you know.

Um, my friend wants to register, but every time he tries he never gets the confirmation e-mail, why is this?
Comment posted on January 5th, 2004 at 05:48 PM
Either he has a spam filter that thinks our confirmation e-mail is spam or his POP e-mail provider is just not relaying the message. The problem isn't on our end so it's hard to say.

Okay, thanks, i'll tell him that. thanks again! ^_^

I don't have any spam blockers and I know because I got a confirmation email fine like a few weeks ago. I wanted to re sign up as another username but it hasnt come. Yet I put in the same email address that I used the last time.

HI, something weird happened to my account.. My info is all changed like (name.. im.. all this other info).. I never did this.. and my password is nearly impossible to figure out.. nobody knows it! Another weird thing was I was like logged into other peoples journals and stuff.. Any idea what happened? I hope this doesn' happen again.
Comment posted on January 5th, 2004 at 03:16 PM
Huh? How did you get access to others' journals?

I dont know.. when I opened up tabulas.com I was alright signed in.. but not under my name. Then, I went to my tabulas.. and my menu was the control panel for another girls' journal.

But.. how the hell did my info get all changed.. I never changed it and I'm the only one who uses this computer!
Comment posted on January 5th, 2004 at 07:24 PM
Um. There is *no* way Tabulas just randomly assigns you to a journal. Once you're logged in, info is stored on your computer stating what account you're using.

Are you sure no one else uses your computer?

Absolutly positive.. My computer is password protected.. I was browsing tabulas and I saw another girl who had the same problem..

http://www.tabulas.com/~azurie I think it was..

If you want me to fix this, I need to know specifically which account you got access to.

I cannot simply troubleshoot problem when you say, "I got access to somebody else's journal." I need to know so I can track down the problem.

SAME HERE! I logged into my old username, but I couldn't remember the password so I was thinking up what the password could be, and I logged into someone elses username. It wasn't even similar to the username I was trying to log into.
Comment posted on January 5th, 2004 at 06:33 PM
What username and password combo did you use? E-mail this to roy - at - neopages - dot - com please.

As for your second question, if you want to change usernames, you should not be signin gup new accounts, but using the "change username" feature.

I registered yesterday at Tabulas with the username greentea. But then I realized my email address wasn't working (free POP service is crappy). Is there any way you can resend the confirmation email to the address listed here instead? Or just delete the unconfirmed account so that I can re-register. Sorry for the trouble =/

Even if I resend the confirmation email, my POP service doesn't receive it. I wanted to change the email address that the confirmation letter is sent to.

re-register with a different username; in about a month the username you originally reigstered with should be released back into the name pool and then you can change your username.
