We will begin suspending accounts that hide the top nav bar starting this Friday (4/10).

Please do not hide it.

Thanks.

Question: what exactly is the navbar? Is it the \"Logged in as\" or the one with \"Home, Profile, etc\"?

Another one: the navbar (The \"Logged in as\" is after the header, is that alloweD?

question, my navigation bar can still be seen on my page although it\'s not on top. can I keep it that way or I need to move it to the top.
Comment posted on May 13th, 2004 at 03:23 AM
Please move it to the top.

i never thought of hiding the navbar or anything like that. i just placed it on top of my layout, not having that grey background. i just wish you had an option of changing the navbar\'s background into something that\'d blend with the user\'s layout. i think people would have second thoughts of trying to hide the navbar if they could at least manipulate the background color.. that\'s what i did before, i tried to blend it in with my layout. now it\'s back to it\'s grey color..

The point of the top admin bar is not for design purposes; it\'s there to be a consistent interface widge so that when you are going through Tabulas sites you can quickly navigate between their site, your site, and your control panel.

how do i edit the top nav bar so it would look good with the layout?

Please do not overlap your background over the top navigational bar.

I don\'t mind the top navbar, although what I do mind about it that it doesn\'t validate >_<
Comment posted on April 14th, 2004 at 01:06 AM
Yeah, that should be fixed in later versions. But take solace in the fact that the grey bar will not appear to validators ;D

What\'s the reason for suspending accounts hiding the top nav?
Comment posted on April 12th, 2004 at 10:46 PM
It\'s a violation of the terms of service. That nav bar is there so help users move around Tabulas; from their control panels to the front page to to their own Tabulas ... it also helps in adding people as friends quickly.

When you hide this navbar, you are restricting the usability of the site.

So please ... show it.
Comment posted on April 12th, 2004 at 11:15 PM
ok respect that but it is a big eye sore
Comment posted on May 3rd, 2004 at 10:57 PM
Again, it is meant for easy navigation.

Would you rather it a purple, pink or blue hue? Seriously, people. It\'s <em>neutral grey</em>. It goes with anything.

Excuse me but my site has been ripped off by two of your members already. The addresses are:

<a href="http://www.tabulas.com/~volatyle/">http://www.tabulas.com/~volatyle/</a>
http://www.tabulas.com/~rearseatromance/

The first one changed her site already but I do have a screenshot of my design she stole.

Also - the rearseat romance girl stole my layout off of my livejournal:
<a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/rearseatromance">http://www.livejournal.com/users/rearseatromance</a>

I am tired of having my hard work ripped off from these stupid girls joining your site and I want some sort of compensation. I want both accounts deleted immediately.

They are both breeching copyright laws and it\'s really starting to piss me off.

Thank you.
Comment posted on April 12th, 2004 at 05:02 PM
There is no account deletion function. Please deal with the matter privately with the people who have stolen your layouts.

A comment about this was already posted, but not addressed, so I hope it\'s alright if I ask again.

Could you please implement daylight savings time? The timestamps on my entries are an hour earlier than they should be, even though my timezone is correct.
Comment posted on April 12th, 2004 at 04:53 PM
Just change your timezone and your entry times will automatically change.

dev (guest)

Comment posted on April 12th, 2004 at 11:16 AM
Err, also, I\'m aware there is a note about this at help.tabulas.com, but changing your timezones in accordance with daylight savings changes all of the entries before it as well, doesn\'t it?

how does one delete himself from someones friend list? someone, who i personally want nothing to do with has added me to his friend list. i want to remove myself from his list and prevent him from ever adding me again. how do i do this?
Comment posted on April 11th, 2004 at 12:14 PM
You cannot prevent anyone from adding you to their friends list, but you can filter them out from your Manage Friends; this prevents them from showing up on your profile page or your friends-of page.

DAYLIGHTS SAVING TIME...well you seee that was weeeks ago (mind me school isn\'t on..so uh...weeks and days kind of blur together) and I have recently began somewhat posting on tabulas again only to notice that they are an hour earlier since daylights saving time so rather than setting it to my actual time zone I set it to a time later so that my hours would correspond but only now all my other entries the hours are also changed..how do I fix this...

Thanks

what if we keep the links that are in the navbar in the layout?
Comment posted on April 10th, 2004 at 02:26 PM
What? We\'re not talking about your individual navigation bar; we\'re talking about the top grey bar you see when you\'re logged in.

LovlieVibe (guest)

Comment posted on April 10th, 2004 at 02:45 PM
no, i know what you are talking about. i\'m just wondering if it would be okay if we added all of the links from the gray bar to our own navigation bar.
Comment posted on April 12th, 2004 at 12:08 AM
the purpose of the navbar is to be exactly the same on each page, thus being cohesive throughout tabulas. Its independent from your own site. So no, you need to have that bar there.

rabbit (guest)

Comment posted on April 13th, 2004 at 03:18 AM
No, what they meant is would it be alright to get rid of the grey navigation bar on their tabulas if they just include the links from the navigation bar on their own little menu. Like adding it where profile, gallery, info, etc is for that person.
Comment posted on April 13th, 2004 at 03:23 AM
Answer is still \'no.\' The grey bar needs to be on top and needs to be grey; it is the consistent UI that lets tabulas members quickly navigate through sites.

LovlieVibe (guest)

Comment posted on April 14th, 2004 at 08:45 PM
ooh so it has to be gray? ok i made my transparent, but the links and the bar are still in tact, so i will have to change that.
Comment posted on April 10th, 2004 at 07:26 AM
i have no problem with the navbar, but i have one on the layout.

you see, everytime i edit my layout, it would stop loading at 38%. then when i check my page, everything is totally not in their proper arrangement. that\'s why i have to remove stuffs in it. so what\'s the problem?
Comment posted on April 10th, 2004 at 06:42 AM
How can you change what\'s written in the home|profile|gallery| etc. like instead of displaying \"home,\" it will display \"house?\"

It\'s just a primer file; the dark greys mean that those are the initial colors. You can change them to anything else.

Hi, I would have rather contacted you in another manner, but seeing as this is the only means of contact your website provides, here goes:

It has come to my attention that one of your clientelle is abusing the laws abiding that of copyright infrigement, identity theft, and --as I\'ve now noticed by her lack of top navigational bar-- your very own web hosting regulations.

Her past layouts have been stolen, images and coding, from two copywritten and very legally protected websites (including the images thereforein, which also come with their own written use permissions from the artists themselves): Sacred.nu and FateFellShort.com..

Stealing, while commonly envisioned as a physical theft, holds up just as criminally in a court room. We are planning on taking the webmaker to small claims court this following month, and would be more than happy to exclude your company in the support of her activities by noting you did your part by either suspending her account or revoking her priveledges to have one.

Please contact me back as soon as possible, thanks for all your help!

<em>\"and would be more than happy to exclude your company in the support of her activities by noting you did your part by either suspending her account or revoking her priveledges to have one.\"</em>

Is this a blackmailing effort? You\'ll be happy to exclude ME from her support? When did I ever support her decision to steal your layouts?

If you want to contact me, do so at roy@neopages.com, but I suggest you leave your legal threats at the door; I am not gullible enough to believe that I can be held liable for the use of my services by other users.

However, I will be happy to arbitrate with the user to resolve this issue in a timely fashion. The person has violated the TOS of the site, but I suggest you attempt to resolve the issue diplomatically instead of resorting to threats.

You can\'t. The navbar is not a part of your styling options; it is meant to look the same on each site.
