As the features for Tabulas grows (like the new video feature) to each user's account, it came time to clean up the default template that users use. The current set of default templates are close to four years old now, and are hard for me to maintain.

I am beginning to test out the new theme; you can see it on this Tabulas account. Currently, there is still work left to be done on the gallery and the content/files views, but you should get an idea of what it'll look like.

This new design is a lot cleaner, and utilizes a larger content area - in this content area, it'll be easier for me to deliver media, like YouTube videos and images.

The design work for this should finalize this week - when it is done, I will deprecate all the old default templates. Any users who are using any of the default templates will be converted to the new one.

If you are using a custom layout, you will not be affected.

My hope is that as I pick one template to work on, I can polish it and make it look spectacular

Even better, once the template is done, I will work on the customize styles functionality that's been broken for so long! This new feature will let you easily change the header image (of the pen), and change the colors of your site without knowing CSS or HTML!

Let me know what you think of this new layout.
