Edit: Your templates were not deleted, read this post to find out how to import your old templates into the new system.

Do things seem different? Yes, this is Tabulas 2.0 coming into play! Woo hoo!

After months and months of slaving away, I finally got to implement Tabulas 2.0 and share it with you!

I expect this release to be somewhat buggy (a lot of the features are currently missing), so please bear with me while I track down all bugs and finish integrating all the old features back into Tabulas.

Please, if you are having problems with your site (anything at all!) that might be a bug, please post in our forums in the "General Questions" forum. Accounts in our forums are not automatically created, so please be sure to register an account.

Again, please do _not_ post help requests as comments here!

For those of you inquiring about your template, I have to comments for you:

  1. Do you not keep backups on your own hard drive? YOU SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP BACKUPS OF EVERYTHING!
  2. Of course we wouldn't delete your templates... I built a template import tool so you can import your old template into the new templating engine system. This will *only* grab the custom template that you were actively using; archived templates are no good.

Here are the list of stuff that's "to-do" on Tabulas 2.0 right now:

  • Communities were removed. This is only temporary ... I will be adding in all support for communities back. This also means the community section of the control panel is buggy beyond belief.
  • User limits are not correct. I will soon be updating all user limits amount to reflect the proper amounts.
  • User groups are not working properly.
  • Your "Filter Friends Of" option will not work if you set it
  • The buttons below your add entry (Attach Picture, Attach File, View Smilies) are currently not working
  • We have dropped FOAF and OPML support temporarily from all accounts.
  • Crossposting (read previous post) does not work
  • The cool "create color schemes" for non-css experts is temporarily missing.
  • For some reason, commenting decided to stop threading properly. I am working to fix this shortly.

These should be the immediate issues regarding Tabulas 2.0. Again, please post issues in the forum; I will be actively deleting any support comments in this entry.

Oh yeah, as a "Thank You!" for your continued support, I've opened up the user directory for everybody to use! So go find some people... or something

I tried retrieving my old layout but all I got was someone else's layout and Im really irked ... but otherwise, everything else is fine.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 06:15 PM
i like 2.0, but one complaint- i don't mind ads, but when you pop in a tagboard, they both sit high and pretty so there's a huge blank space above where the site content actually starts. is there a way you can punt it off to the side of the entries etc. nicely? thanks.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 06:37 PM
oopsies, that was just remnants of my old template popping up or something; it's fine now. yay prettiness! and its so much faster, too.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 06:06 PM
it's great, actually. the only complaint i've got is that i have no idea who posted who when browsing through my friends and friends of lists, but then that's probably my own fault (either i haven't tried fiddling around enough, or i'm just not that observant or it could be my old template).

Isn´t it just hard to please everyone??? i just want to show my appreciation for the effort put into making 2.0 and say I´m quite happy with it. Let´s work on whatever bugs appear and move on. Evolve! :-)

Congratulations, awsome job!!!
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 05:55 PM
Same with me... Just a simple fix, though, I think...
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 04:31 PM
Well i think it's gorgeous. Granted, I got a bit paniccy when I saw that my layout was gone. But, in the words of ciera {rad}, people need to 'stfuplz' and actually try stuff out than just start freaking out.

<i>but those adverts will be the death of me...</i>
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 05:54 PM
I couldn´t agree more. I´m very happy with 2.0, the changes are great, the templates are far better than the precious ones, so people, let´s appreciate the obvious hard work that has been put into making 2.0, explore it, find our way around and basically enjoy it!!! :-)
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 03:30 PM
I'm lost. What is advert?? And where am I supposed to put it? I'm trying to edit my old template but I can't because I seem to be missing that advert command.

Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 11:30 AM
Silly question, but are you going to bring back the old pre-made templates from the old version?
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 11:40 AM
Was there a particular one you liked? I can bring it back for ya ;D
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 05:06 PM
ei if ur tryin to get somethin back can u try and prioritize the edit colors thing? the one where we edit the colors if we're not using our own template.. it's the only thing that keeps my site puhreeetty.. thanks!! like the changes though..
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 12:11 PM
I don't quite know how to describe it... it's the one with the yellow image of a book/paper, and then 'So-and-so's Journal' comes after? I used it as my template before the change. Sorry, I haven't messed with the template since I registered so I can't recall anything. :(
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 08:42 PM
I've added Charmander back as one of the default templates.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 12:14 PM
It might have been called Charmander. I think.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 12:46 PM
OK, give me a day or two. I'll try to add it back for ya.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 11:26 AM
import tool says i don't have a custom template. what do i do?
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 11:38 AM
Then you weren't using a custom template. Are you sure you had a custom template?
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 05:58 PM
I think he´s probably talking about one of the default templates to which he applied a custom css... That´s the same with me, but I´m so happy about the new templates that I really don´t care! :-)
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 11:23 AM
import lay-out worked out fine for me, though there are some things that have to be fixed. over all, great work! pre-made templates like this one looks really light and cool. good luck!
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 10:53 AM
U guys should keep our original templates even u upgraded.. u guys just change it totally without considering others efforts? WE SPENT TIME ON IT !!.. that import tool of yours doesnt seems to be working well too.. i still cant get the page tat i want back... What kinda service is this.. its ridiculous !!!
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 06:02 PM
I wonder why you can´t appreciate the hard work that was put into these changes. You don´t have to like them, but maybe you could at least show some respect for their effort and, like marvin said, you get this service for free, so, get over it!
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 11:08 AM
of course everyone spent time creating their templates, but come on, these changes have just been implemented. you can't expect it to work out perfectly for the first time. and you don't even pay for your account, for crying out loud.

and FYI, Roy has been issuing warnings from time to time about the changes that might happen when he launches 2.0.

oh roy. it's kinda confusing. but i know it's all for the better. it's just that, well, we all need to redo the tags and the style templating. gosh.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 10:15 AM

Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 10:02 AM
oh there's a friend quota now Y_Y well that's a bad option but.. maybe there's a reason. Oh well.

anyways great job still.
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 10:04 AM
RE: friends quota...

It's not meant to limit how many friends you can have - it was implemented because a few rogue users were adding everybody and it was causing the server unnecessary strain when they loaded up their friends page.

What I will likely do is have that number increase in time as you stay longer on Tabulas; this should let you add almost anybody to your friends list within reason.

But I'm not trying to limit people's social connections within Tabulas ... just trying to balance out people overusing certain features unnecessarily.

I kind of liked the one before. No offense to you. I'm sure you've probably given a lot of effort on this one.

It's just... kind of sudden?

I dont know where to report a bug, but there is a problem with the tagboards... when you entered the code, you missed an end square bracket on the tagboard code "]", just thought you might want to know
Comment posted on January 9th, 2005 at 09:54 AM
Thanks for the heads up. I've fixed that up.
